Sarah Philip is a life-long artist and an art educator with over 20 years’ experience. Her artwork focuses on meditative practices in multiple media. Works in ceramics, glass, and fibers are Sarah’s main pursuits and she has skills creating and teaching in many other media.
Raised in Cleveland Heights, Ohio, Sarah started creating art as a child. Family museum visits, the summer camp Arts and Crafts Shack, and creative grandmothers instilled a love for making. Early pursuits involved fibers and metal jewelry. In college Sarah pursued her life-long dream to learn how to weave and dye fibers at Skidmore College. A second Bachelor’s degree from Kent State University set her on the path to becoming an art educator. She taught at an Independent School for 18 years, recently returning to the Cleveland area. In 2006, Sarah began a series of ceramic sculptures exploring form, texture, and line. With over 200 sculptures completed, she continues to experiment and explore new facets of expression.
